Saint Petersburg has a network of metro stations, each of which is considered a real architectural masterpiece. And, if you are still not sure whether to go or not, it should be noted that the historic city center is part of the UNESCO cultural heritage.

We have compiled a 3-day itinerary for you, which will allow you to slowly get acquainted with the main attractions of the city. When preparing for a trip, we advise you to book a hotel in the center of St. Petersburg in order to have time to visit everything planned.
Day 1
Walk along Nevsky Prospekt from Moskovsky Train Station to St. Isaac's Cathedral to feel the atmosphere of the city. On the way you will see the Kazan Cathedral and the Church of the Savior on Blood. The Kazan Cathedral is an Orthodox church in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. It features impressive architecture and numerous icons. Entrance to the temple is free for visitors, but photography and video filming inside is prohibited.
Away from Nevsky Prospekt, on the banks of the Griboyedov Canal, there is the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood. Next, go to St. Isaac's Cathedral and climb the colonnade. After lunch, visit the Hermitage. The museum is open from noon to 9 pm.
In the evening, you can plan an overnight boat trip. The drawbridges are an unforgettable experience and we highly recommend the boat tour.
Tip: make sure your hotel is on the side of the Neva where the river cruise will drop you off. Otherwise, be prepared for an expensive taxi ride.
Day 2
In the morning we recommend going to the Catherine Palace. If you happen to be in St. Petersburg on a Tuesday, it is worth visiting Tsarskoe Selo, as the Catherine Park is a very atmospheric place. Go shopping in Gostiny Dvor and try the famous donuts. In the evening, go to a performance of the Mariinsky Theater or another show.
Day 3
On the third day, take a guided tour of the St. Petersburg metro. Of course, you can take a self-guided tour by paying only the metro fare. But remember that a guided tour will help you learn a lot of interesting facts about the subway.
Next, visit the Peter and Paul Fortress. Walk along the beach to see the Palace Embankment. Every day at noon, a cannon shot is heard on the Naryshkin Bastion, this custom appeared in 1865.
